چکیده
Accumulated evidence has revealed the mitigation effects of exogenous melatonin on cold stress in plants. In this study, to investigate defensive roles banana under stress, we researched influences chlorophyll fluorescence parameters, antioxidant defense indexes and expression levels cold-responsive genes cold-stressed ‘Brazil’ seedlings. Results showed that 100 ?M achieved best cold-resistance-promoting effect banana. Exogenous treatment significantly increased electron transfer rate, light harvesting efficiency, total capacity, catalase superoxidase activities proline soluble sugar contents reduced accumulations malondialdehyde, superoxide anion hydrogen peroxide leaves addition, induced low-temperature-responsive genes, such as MaChiI1, MaCSD1C, MaWhy1, MaKIN10, MaADA1 MaHOS1. It was concluded application enhanced thereby improving resistance Our study will provide a basis for plant resistance.

Exogenous Melatonin Alleviates Cold Stress by Promoting Antioxidant Defense and Redox Homeostasis in Camellia sinensis L.
The unprecedented early spring frost that appears as a cold stress adversely affects growth and productivity in tea (Camellia sinensis L.); therefore, it is indispensable to develop approaches to improve the cold tolerance of tea. Here, we investigated the effect of pretreatment with exogenous melatonin on the net photosynthetic rate, the maximum photochemical efficiency of PSII, chlorophyll co...
متن کاملEffect of Cold Atmospheric Plasma on Gene Expression and Methylation of Genes Involved in Colorectal Cancer
Background and purpose: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is ranked as the second most common cancer in men and the third most common cancer in women worldwide. Routine treatments have many side effects and little efficiency. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of Cold Atmospheric Plasma (CAP) on epigenetic changes of some genes involved in CRC progression. Materials and methods: Prolif...
متن کاملRole of cold-responsive genes in plant freezing tolerance.
Plants vary greatly in their ability to survive freezing temperatures. At one extreme are plants from tropical regions that have virtually no capacity to survive even the slightest freeze. In contrast, herbaceous plants from temperate regions generally survive freezing temperatures ranging from 25°C to 230°C, depending on the species, whereas perennials in the boreal forests routinely survive w...
متن کاملImproved cold tolerance in Elymus nutans by exogenous application of melatonin may involve ABA-dependent and ABA-independent pathways
Melatonin is an important secondary messenger that plays a central role in plant growth, as well as abiotic and biotic stress tolerance. However, the underlying physiological and molecular mechanisms of melatonin-mediated cold tolerance, especially interactions between melatonin and other key molecules in the plant stress response, remain unknown. Here, the interrelation between melatonin and a...
متن کاملGenetic Locus Involved in Cold-Responsive Gene Expression in Arabidopsis
Low-temperature stress induces the expression of a variety of genes in plants. However, the signal transduction pathway(s) that activates gene expression under cold stress is poorly understood. Mutants defective in cold signaling should facilitate molecular analysis of plant responses to low temperature and eventually lead to the identification and cloning of a cold stress receptor(s) and intra...
